The Nordic Heritage Center

About Us

The Nordic Heritage CenterThe Nordic Heritage Center is a jewel in the crown of Maine.  It embodies the best of the County: a place of incomparable beauty, embracing nature all four seasons, maintained with love and care by many dedicated volunteers and the highly organized, non-profit club that is responsible for operating the venue - The Nordic Heritage Sport Club.  For more information on the NHSC Board and Officers click here.

Our Mission:

The Nordic Heritage Sport Club promotes healthy outdoor recreation and economic vitality in Central Aroostook County by providing first-class facilities and programs to area residents, athletes, and visitors.

About Us:

Like the County itself, the NHC is a secret too well kept. Here are some things you may not know about our venue:

  • It offers free ski lessons to youth every Saturday during the winter season. 2020 dates begin January 25-March 7.
  • It is the site of the Nordic Trail Festival: three days of cycling, running, good food and music for anyone—a true celebration of life.             July 31-August 1, 2020
  • It hosts year-round training for area athletes.
  • It’s a premiere site for high school skiing competitions.
  • It’s also a great place to geocache, hike, snowshoe, fat tire bike, bird watch—well, we could go on and on.

While you may see people at the NHC dressed in spandex and bibs, you’re even more likely to see parents or grandparents with children, playing in the snow, hiking or wheeling around the loops.

We believe that the brightest days are yet to come for the Nordic Heritage Center as we continue to broaden our recreational offerings and increase our membership with active minded members of our community.
