The Nordic Heritage Center

Nordic Heritage Center Facility Update.

Attention NHC users from the community and abroad! Due to warm weather, lack of snow and security, the NHSC has regrettably decided to completely close the venue to ensure quality snow for the upcoming World Cup Biathlon and to ensure the safety of potential trail users. We recommend visiting other quality local trail systems including Aroostook State Park in Presque Isle, Caribou High School, Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge in Limestone, the Four Seasons Trail Association in Madawaska and the Fort Kent Outdoor Center.

They are looking to you, the community, to assist them in distributing $100,000 to charitable organizations in Maine.  Last year, they garnered nearly 90,000 votes from Mainers who supported nonprofits of all types and sizes by voting in the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation’s Community Matters More grant-making initiative.

A total of 48 grants will be awarded to the organizations listed on the ballot and to the top 20 write-in recipients. The organizations in each of the eight regions (including write-ins) that get the most votes will receive $5,000 each. The remaining 60 organizations will each receive $1,000.
